Walt Disney Studios announced an ambitious, re-make/sequel heavy slate of up-coming films, with a generous helping of actor Johnny Depp. Depp will team with director Tim Burton once again for a live-action/CG mix adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, in which Depp will play the Mad Hatter, for release in 2010. Depp will also reprise the character of Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth Pirates of the Carribean film, as well as play Tonto in an up-coming remake of The Lone Ranger.
Don't tell me that no one else is even the least bit excited about this! Now, I'm not the squeeing type, but with news that Depp would be playing the Mad Hatter... why, I might just make an exception!
And to what brought me to this little tidbit was a random reminder of an unrelated series I enjoyed. I was hoping to discover if plans of a Tin Man sequel had ever been considered past the writer's strike. And while it doesn't seem all terribly likely at this point (now that the buzz has faded the chances grow slim) I discovered something even better. Rumours go that the same group of people responsible for fashioning Tin Man are doing an Alice in Wonderland miniseries with a similar style! That deserves two exclamation points!!
How crazy is it that I find two separate sets of awesome on a story I adore while searching for something else entirely?
Right now, I do believe Sci-Fi is working on another mini series from the same people who worked on Tin Man. I can’t remember exactly what it is and I’m too lazy to look it up but I believe its Alice in Wonderland.
